Orbik Cybersecurity, a Basque-based start-up specializing in industrial cybersecurity, has become the first technological start-up in the region to transform into a cooperative. This milestone was achieved through a collaboration between the technology center Ikerlan and the Mondragon Corporation, with support from the Basque Government and the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council via the Basque Tek Ventures program.

Established in early 2023, Orbik Cybersecurity focuses on providing cybersecurity services to industrial sectors, including the issuance of external certifications ensuring products meet international cybersecurity standards. In 2024, the company reported a turnover of €700,000 and plans to double both its team and revenue in 2025. Their clientele includes companies in the electrical sector and industries requiring compliance with standards such as IEC 62443-4-2 and the forthcoming European Cyber Resilience Act.

The transformation into a cooperative is part of a broader strategy by Ikerlan and Mondragon to promote the creation of new cooperative start-ups in the Basque Country. Over the next four years, they aim to mobilize more than €10 million to foster these initiatives, emphasizing local roots and the retention of knowledge within the region.
