Apple might be working on a smart doorbell

Apple is reportedly developing a smart doorbell as part of its efforts to expand its presence in smart home technology, according to Bloomberg. The device would feature FaceID technology to recognize residents' faces and wirelessly unlock a connected deadbolt lock.

Currently in early development, the smart doorbell is not expected to launch before the end of 2025. It may be compatible with third-party HomeKit-enabled locks or involve a partnership with a specific lock manufacturer.

While the product would compete with devices like Amazon's Ring, it could also expose Apple to potential risks, such as security concerns if the system is blamed for home break-ins.
